Is Your Website Losing Leads? A 15-Point Check You Can Do in 10 Minutes
Most owners judge their website by how it looks. Customers judge it by one thing: how fast they can reach you. If a visitor on a phone can't call, book or send a request in a few seconds, they hit the back button and call the next business on Google.
Here are the checks we run on every site, grouped by what they protect.
Can a mobile visitor reach you right now?
- Tap-to-call phone number. Your number should be a link that dials with one tap, at the top of every page. This is the single biggest fix for most service businesses.
- Call links that actually dial. A missing digit or old number in the link silently kills calls.
- Phone number easy to find. Not buried in the footer.
- Built for phones. The page should fit the screen without pinching and zooming.
Can after-hours visitors still reach you?
- A short contact form. Name, phone, what they need. Anything longer gets abandoned.
- An online booking or request button. Many customers would rather book than call.
- Business hours shown near your phone number, so people know when a person will answer.
- An email address for customers who prefer writing.
Does your site look open and trustworthy?
- Secure (https). Browsers warn visitors away from sites without it.
- Current footer year. "© 2021" makes people wonder if you're still in business.
- No leftover template text like "lorem ipsum" or "$phone$".
- Social profiles linked so customers can see you're real and active.
- Fast homepage. If it takes more than about 3 seconds, many visitors leave.
Can Google show you properly?
- A clear page title with your service and area.
- A meta description, the one or two lines Google shows under your name.
What to fix first
Fix in this order: tap-to-call, contact form, booking button, hours. Those four touch the moment a customer decides to reach out. The rest builds trust and search visibility over time.
